Tour Round the Island (Full day)

All four coasts of Gran Canaria in just one trip!  We start by heading southwest, visiting the picturesque fishing village of "Puerto de Mogan", known as "Little Venice". We then carry on through volcanic landscapes and mountains of a thousand hues, to San Nicolas, centre of Gran Canarian tomato ;

The west coast, with its beautiful cliffs, leads us to Puerto de las Nieves in ; Passing through Galdar, Guia and Arucas, we will stop to visit a typical Banana Plantation! 

 In Las Palmas, we will have the chance to stroll along the famous Canteras Beach, and snap the "Alfredo Kraus" Auditorium. After an unforgettable day, we'll return to the south via the east coast of Gran Canaria.

Aboard luxury, airconditionated coach, together we´ll explore the most beautiful valleys of Gran Canaria, travelling via Telde, the ancient aboriginal capital of the island, to Arucas, where we visit the unique “modern gothic” church, and the rum distillery with the biggest vaultsin Europe (tasting is of course included!).  

Climbing up through the centre of the island, we have magnificent views of northern Gran Canaria and the city of Las ; 

In Teror, the pilgrimage site, we find the typical architecture of the island: balconies and basilica. Hidden away, we find the green core of the island. You'll discover deep valleys and stunning mountain views, described by the famous Spanish poet Unamuno as a “frozen tempest”, and naturally including the Roque Nublo and “El Teide”. Once over the peak, we carry on past the almond trees of Ayacata,San Bartolome and the village of “Fataga”, known as the “Valley of the Thousand Palms”. Return to the south of the island.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

This excursion begins when we leave las Palmas Harbour and we head East-North towards Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (capital of the province which bears the same name: "Las Palmas"). We'll see something of the city and on leaving it behind, we'll enjoy magnificent views of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and a panoramic view of the city.

Visit Arehucas Distillery with the biggest rum cellars in Europe

We continue on to the town of Arucas, home to Gran Canarian Rum and the banana capital of Gran Canaria. After we arrive in Arucas, we visit two of its most important attractions: the astounding neogothic church of San Juan Bautista, which although a 20th century monument reminds one of a medieval church; and the Arehucas rum factory which dates from 1884, with the biggest rum cellars of all Europe.

Rum was a Canarian invention which the Conquistadors exported to the Americas. In the distillery, we'll not only see the thousands of American oak barrels where the Rum matures over time,but see the steps it goes through before finally arriving into the bottles dearly loved by the locals.

The Rum production in the Canaries is absolutely traditional.

Visit in Teror village

Our route continues towards Teror, the religious capital and destination of the pilgrimages of the island. On arrival, you can see the Basilisk of La Virgen del Pino (Virgin of Pino) and discover its squares and historic corners, as well as stroll through its romantic streets with their post-colonial architecture and look at its beautiful balconies carved from Canarian pine. To sum up, a village which allows us to enjoy a moment of peace and tranquility.

During the route, we break to have lunch. Although lunch is not included in the price, you can choose to supply your own, or take advantage of a varied and typical table d'hote menu which includes drinks (water and wine or soft drinks) for around 10 euros. We continue our ascent and the center of the island offers us contrasting landscapes: deep ravines, many of which are populated by locals who live inside these mountains, in cave-houses either drilled out of these rocks or to this day in natural caves.

As we climb, you'll notice that island becomes greener, which surprises the visitor who doesn't expect such an extraordinary diversity of landscapes. The peak envelops us with its pine and chestnut woods by the roadside. You'll begin to understand why this island is known as the "Continent in Miniature". Not just the scenery but also the climate may surprise you, as the north is much cooler and damp than the south where you are staying.

Return across the southern part of the island

The heart of the island surprises us with its impressive landscapes; we leave the "Parador" of the Cruz de Tejeda behind us at no less than meters high, to continue on our way to stop at the viewpoint of Becerra ( meters high) from wherewe can view the "Roque Nublo", the natural monument which is emblematic of Gran Canaria, together with two other magnificent natural monoliths (pillars) "the Rock of Bentayga " and the "Monje". Don't forget your camera; if the weatheris kind you can see Tenerife clearly and with it Spain's highest peak, Teide, at meters.

After we hit the peak, we begin to descend via the center of Gran Canaria towards the south, through forests of canarian pine and dams which store the water which is partially brought on the trade winds. In the village of Ayacata you can see the almond trees (in flower in winter) and nature offers us rocks of a thousand forms, which our guides will help you discover. We continue descending and the landscape becomes drier but nonetheless impressive; that's why Unamuno described it as a "petrified tempest".

In the village of "Tunte" in San Bartolome we enter a large crater of around 10 km in diameter and we stop to take photos and have a coffee. Suddenly you realize you're in an enormous hole and you feel really tiny against theImpressive mountains which surround you. A camera is obligatory, for the wonderful views over the villages of Temisas and Santa Lucia.

The vegetation has been changing and suddenly you could be in a faraway corner of Arizona or Nevada; the plants are different and the vegetation belongs to the succulent family (cactus, aloes, agaves and many more) which is greatly admiredby our visitors. It's a flora which is perfectly adapted to the scarce rainfall of the region.

Fataga, the valley of the thousand palms, refuge of artists and bohemians, welcomes us: a beautiful valley filled with palms at the bottom of a pretty and fertile valley.

VIP Excursion to Gran Canaria Highlights traveling in luxurious vans

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Route using eight-seater vehicles suitable for the island roads. Leaving the south of the island (the tourist area), we start towards the west to climb to the highest point on the island. On the way to the Valley of La Aldea, we will visit the Cactus Park, where you are welcome to a free tasting session of wine from the Canary Islands. Later, we will go through the beautiful area of Las Presas and Tejeda (the highest point in the island). Then, we will return towards San Mateo and we will stop for lunch (included) in the village of Ayacata.

After lunch, we set off back towards the east, crossing areas such as Tenteniguada and Valsequillo. There, we will stop again to taste the typical sauce from the Canary Island (mojo) and typical jams from this area. We will go through Telde, the ancient town and one of the most populated city in the island. Finally, we will take the southern motorway to end this pleasant trip which will add another small holiday memory.

Excursion to the Markets in Gran Canaria

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

The excursion starts with the departure from the south of the island towards the northern city of Santa Brigida. Here, we will visit the market, which is famous for its fruit, vegetables and handicrafts of the island. You will never forget this magical city with the nature which surrounds each street and house.

Next we will go to San Mateo, another famous city in the island, to visit the local market, famous especially for the wonderful cheese in the island. Here, you will be able to enjoy the friendliness of people and the incredible fresh air that you will breathe.

Then we will visit Teror, where the basilica of "Nuestra Señora del Pino”, the patron saint of the island of Gran Canaria, is. We recommend a visit to the basilica. You will be fascinated with the visit to this incredible and magical church. In Teror we will visit the third and last market of the day too. This market is famous for the typical products of this village, like sausage, sweet sausage (morcilla dulce), bread, You can also find many products related to religious worship and typical handicraft from the Canary Islands.

After this last stop in Teror we will return again to the south of the island. You will remember this excursion during all your life, because you will see another landscape of the island and you will enjoy the products of the local markets in Gran Canaria.

Survival Excursions in Jeep & Camel Safari in Gran Canaria

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

There are two different activities in the Survival Excursions. The Jeep Safari and the Camel Safari:

JEEP SAFARI: Jeep ride along dirt and tarmacked roads. These fully equipped vehicles are controlled by a team of qualified professionals. On these routes of difficult access you will be able to see part of the peculiar aspects of our island, and the true meaning of the famous slogan: Gran Canaria, a Continent in Miniature. CAMEL SAFARI: Similar to the Jeep Safari, but including a camel ride of approximately 30 minutes.
